This Privacy Policy explains how the Wyoop mobile application (“Wyoop”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. Wyoop is provided by Wyoop. If you have questions, contact us at wyoopsales@gmail.com.
Wyoop plays a short 100 Hz sound intended to help reduce motion sickness and lets you enhance your own music with the same tone. Wyoop is an experimental wellness tool, not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice.
Summary
- We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
- Your feedback ratings, calibration settings, and preferences stay on your device.
- We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate, anonymous app usage.
- We show ads via Google AdMob, which may collect device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads.
- The microphone is used only, and briefly, to calibrate sound levels. Audio is processed in real time and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Where required (e.g. in the EEA/UK), we ask for your consent before serving personalized ads, changeable anytime in Settings → Privacy & ad consent.
Information we handle
1. Information stored only on your device
The following is stored locally on your device and is not sent to us:
- Before/after symptom ratings you choose to provide.
- Your motion-sickness susceptibility setting and other preferences.
- Calibration results and whether A/B testing is enabled.
- Music you convert with the 100 Hz tone (saved on your device).
You can delete all of this by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app.
2. Microphone
If you use microphone-based calibration, Wyoop uses your microphone to measure the level of the 100 Hz tone through your headphones. This audio is analyzed on the device in real time and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. You can decline the microphone permission and use volume-based guidance instead.
3. Analytics data (Google Analytics for Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect aggregate usage information such as app opens, screens viewed, feature-usage events, coarse device information (model, OS version, app version, language, region derived from IP address), and app-instance identifiers. It is used in aggregate and does not personally identify you.
4. Advertising data (Google AdMob)
Wyoop displays banner ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process advertising identifiers, device information, ad interactions, and approximate location derived from IP address. Depending on your region and consent, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the app’s features.
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the app.
- To display advertising, which helps support the app.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
Consent for ads (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where required, we use Google’s User Messaging Platform to request your consent before serving personalized ads. You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & ad consent.
Managing the advertising identifier
You can reset or delete your advertising ID via Settings → Google → Ads on your Android device, and opt out of ad personalization there.
Deleting your data
Because feedback, calibration, and preferences are stored only on your device, you can remove them by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling Wyoop.
Third-party services
Data retention and security
On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and advertising data are retained by Google according to their policies and your settings. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children’s privacy
Wyoop is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact us.
International users
Google may process analytics and advertising data on servers located outside your country, under the third-party policies referenced above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, within the app or store listing.
